During my tenure as a Congressional staff member, I was pleased to serve as the Director of Communications on the U. S. Senate Special Committee On Aging for U.S. Senator John Heinz, Ranking Member.
The Aging Committee focuses on issues related to older Americans. Senator Heinz concentrated much of his efforts on fraud that targeted the elderly and ensuring that federal programs met their commitment to serve the elderly. The Senator was killed in a plane crash en route to Philadelphia where we were to meet for an editorial board meeting at the Philadelphia Inquirer. The following day he was to chair a Committee hearing on Medicare fraud.
Continuing its good work for our elderly, the Aging Committee has compiled an extensive base of resources on topics such as Financial Security, Financial Fraud & Deceptive Marketing, Healthcare, and Scams & Identity Theft.
Tribute to the Staff of Senator John Heinz – This is a tribute from U.S. Senator Arlen Spector recognizing the staff of his late colleague, Senator Heinz, that ran in the Congressional Record on May 23, 1991.
