The good folks at the Consumer Financial Protection Board are at it again. This time they are warning about financial exploitation of residents in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
The CFPR has published a manual for operators and staff of nursing homes or assisted living facilities to protect vulnerable residents, those older and/or disabled.
The 44-page guide describes the many types of elder financial exploitation and the warning signs. It also outlines a model response protocol for facilities caring for the elderly and steps to prevent and deter this from happening.
If your loved one resides in a care facility, you can use this publication to check the training and protocols in place.
